Don't Limit Yourself

One of the Communication students of STI Academic Center Calamba named Adrian Cardinoza or known as "Ian" share his experiences as one of the candidate of Tagisan ng Sining or TNS at STI last October, 2016. Knowing the purpose of the TNS is to showcase the student’s talent in arts such as photography and film making. My first question to him is why he joined in this kind of competition, and he explained that Photography is a form of art which expresses the photographer's perspective. Doing this, he can express his self with every angle and click he make. "And that's what I like the most!" he also said. And during the competition, he admitted that he had a hard time thinking of his subject and his mind was literally empty. So what he did he roamed around the campus hoping to find an inspiration at least. The most difficult part of photography is when you don’t have any idea of what or who to take. Then, until he found his self in the library, looked at the books and found several Rizal books. Finally, that's where he found an inspiration and took the winning photo.

Yes, he won on the school level. "To be honest, I really did expect that I would win. I was confident with my shot. I really felt that I poured all of my creative juices to this competition and it did not fail me." Adrian said. He also considered his victory as a major achievement for the fact that was his first win in a photography competition. According to him, STI's Shutter's Best helped him in various ways. It boosted his confidence. It brought out every bit of creativity in his mind. Also it somehow sharpened his photography skill in a new level. "Photography is a form of art. Don't be afraid in joining this kind of competition. Express what you think and don’t limit yourself. Ideas are everywhere you just have to look around", Adrian's message for those STI’ers who want to join on Tagisan ng Sining Shutter's Best category. All of us have talents or skills, maybe in the way of using and expressing that ability should see the differences. In every contest, everyone has only two choices it’s either you won or you lost. But whether you won or lost, we can't deny the fact that it affects us but it depends on ourselves maybe through in a good or bad way. Like how Adrian Cardinoza's accepted and used his achievement.
