The National Youth Convention

STI believes that learning is also achieved outside the classroom where various topics are discussed for STI Students. That is the very essence of the STI National Youth Convention (NYC) wherein the learning never stops wherever you may be. The NYC is a venue where students learn from industry leaders on the latest trends and at the same time, help them learn a lot about various things that can help useful to them when they graduate.

STI students were always ahead of other students when it comes to the latest trends, applications, and gadgets in the country. Back in 2004, the STI Convention was already discussing Bluetooth, 3G, and HSDPA which then came out in 2006. Other trends being discussed then was the coming of the ultimate phone which various features — this later turned out to be today’s Smartphones with Iphone, Blackberry, Samsung, and Nokia leading the way. STI students were always ahead of other students when it comes to the latest trends, applications and gadgets in the country. Not only are STIers equipped with the latest trends in technology but, they also get good information regarding entrepreneurship, finance, and personality development through the NYC.

The NYC has also moved from various small function rooms to big venues to accommodate more STIers who join the convention every year. The big venues include CAP John Hay Trade and Cultural Center in Baguio which can have 3,000 people, CAP Center in Davao which can accommodate 2,000 students, the Atrium in Cagayan de Oro and the SMX Convention Center in Metro Manila which accommodated 4,500 STIers in one sitting. In 2010 alone, the NYC has reached out to 30,000 students and we hope that this number will continue to grow in the coming years.

STI boasts that it is the only school that has a nationwide convention and that the partnerships forged in the process becomes a building block for every STI student. We envision more partnerships with industry partners to give the STIers a big headway in their projects, may it be in programming or other stuff. Truly the STI National Youth Convention has been a spectacular road show presentation that helps STIers learn from outside the classroom. It is an experience that each STIer will cherish forever.
